i've made you so happy & so sad, which should i be more sorry for?

i've decided that i'm going to start posting mixtapes from now on. ones i've actually made for people, or just ones i made for fun (all will fit on a regular cd). i hope this motivates me to actually update this xanga on a regular basis. i forget to save the tracklisting of so many of the mix cds i make, so this is really more for my memory than anything else, ahah. if anyone wants but can't find a track i've listed, feel free to leave a comment and i'll send it to you (is that legal to say? i hope so).

ANYWAY! to start off here's a really chill mix i made for my dad a month ago. i wasn't allowed to add anything "too edgy", ahah:

1. past in present - feist
2. california - rogue wave
3. gonna take it - john butler trio
4. breahte in - frou frou
5. reinvent the wheel - bright eyes
6. gypsy melodies - the snake the cross the crown
7. either way - wilco
8. saturday morning - eels
9. upside down - yo la tengo
10. how good it can be - the 88
11. halloween - matt pond pa
12. all i want is you - barry louis polisar
13. janet - the format
14. four winds - bright eyes
15. three little birds - bob marley
16. begin - ben lee
17. no complaints - beck
18. foundations - kate nash
19. such great heights - the postal service
20. when did your heart go missing? - rooney
21. hello sunshine - super furry animals

super furry animals actually came to ithaca recently. it was a cheap show, but i figured i was already seeing t-pain that weekend so i didn't go (should've gone to sfa instead, seriously -- tpain blew).

pretty sure no one reads this anyway, but enjoy!

love, sarah

new york, i love you, but you're bringing me down.

i can't believe it's been such an incredibly long time since i've updated. i don't have a whole lot to say right now but i'm on spring break and i've got plenty of spare time so maybe i'll get back into the swing of things.

tonight i've been having an incredible amount of nostalgia for the powerpuff girls.

i used to love them when i was in fifth grade. it was so cute, even though i'm sure most of the humor was aimed at adults. blossom was my favorite, but i think everyone always liked bubbles and buttercup. whatever happened to this show? does anyone know if i can find episodes online?

i was on the cartoon network site earlier as well (playin' powerpuff girls games, of course), and i just remembered their interactive site, cartoon orbit, aka best ever. according to wikipedia (why doesn't spellcheck recognize wikipedia?? this is madness!) it was shut down in 2006. aww

laaastly, i saw aloha live last night. i had to leave early on in their but they were still top notch. i wish i talked to cale parks, he seemed friendly from a distance.

imma watch the oc now. season 2, baby!

"fierce hot tranny mess",
sarah

nuclear war! on the dance floor.

I think I'm going to start updating this on a regular basis again.

I'm kind of wired so I think it's about time I wrote my top 10 albums of the year list. As a sidenote, I did a terrible job of buying new CDs towards the end of the year... sooo that's why I'm leaving out a lot.

1. Wincing the Night Away - The Shins
2. Neon Bible - Arcade Fire
3. Living With the Living - Ted Leo and the Pharmacists (totally subjective. everything ted leo does is perfect to me)
4. American Gangster - Jay-Z (back off h8rz~*)
5. Trampoline - Steel Train
6. New Wave - Against Me! (& Ben Lee's cover album!!)
7. In Rainbows - Radiohead
8. Mirrored - Battles
9. Cassadega - Bright Eyes
10. Living in Cartoon Motion - Mika

And I know I said 10, but if had to pick number 11 it would be: Andrew Bird's "Armchair Apocrypha".

2007 was a good year for music. Tell me what your top 10 list is, if you've got one.

P.S. Hope everyone had a wonderful holiday!

i refuse to go numb.

sometimes i feel completely overwhelmed by all the problems in the world. i truly think the world is beautiful, but at the same time there are so many attrocities occuring every day. so many people are suffering and i worry that there will never be enough time or money to help everyone.

nothing infuriates me more than people who say "we shouldn't help other countries before we help ourselves". there are certainly U.S. problems, but i don't think we can even comprehend the problems that other people face. someone in my history class said this today, and so did one of my good friends in response to the sudan/darfur conflicts. the world is not made up of "us" and "them"s! the world is flat, my friends, we are all a part of the same earth. it makes me so angry to think about how ignorant people can be.

anyway, make it your goal to do something worthwhile for someone today. educate yourself or someone else, donate time or money, doesn't matter. just get out there.

My friend posted it in her livejournal today, and I thought it was worth sharing. You can improve your vocabularly while making a difference. But not gonna lie, I'm pretty entertained, good cause or not. It's fun.
